Defence's boost to construction in Central Queenslant
In recent weeks, RDA MIW were thrilled to see the Deputy Prime Minister, Michael McCormack announce that Mackay Cricket Association were successful in getting through to Stage 2 of the Regional Growth Fund (RGF) assessment process with their Harrup Park Sporting Facilities Project. The RGF was designed to provide grants of $10 million or more for major projects that support long-term economic growth and create jobs in regional areas.
Round Three of the Building Better Regions Fund Now Open
Assistant Minister for Defence, Senator the Hon David Fawcett, earlier this week announced Laing O’Rourke as the Managing Contractor for the Australian-Singapore Military Training Initiative (ASMTI) Facilities Project works at the Shoalwater Bay Training Area (SWBTA).

Regional Project Development Register
In the last few days the region has had significant success in Round Two of the Australian Government’s Building Better Regions Fund with 3 regional proponents attracting funding of $95.5K from the Community Investments Stream and 7 regional proponents attracting funding of $14.9M from the Infrastructure Projects Stream.

Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF) - Round 2 Open
The first project under the $100 million Beef Roads Program has been approved by the Australian Government to seal 16.9 kilometres of the Clermont to Alpha Road
Bowen Basin Regional Jobs and Investment Package open for applications 31 May
The $641.6 million Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF) supports the Australian Government’s commitment to create jobs, drive economic growth and build stronger regional communities into the future.
The program will fund projects in regional Australia outside the major capital cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, and Canberra. A mapping tool is available to assist applicants determine the project location.
Local business awarded contract for Mackay Ring Road works
Minister for Regional Development Fiona Nash together with the Federal Member for Capricornia Michelle Landry, Federal Member for Flynn Ken O'Dowd and Federal Member for Dawson George Christensen announced that the grants round for the Bowen Basin Regional Jobs and Investment Packages (RJIP) will open for applications on 31 May, following the publication of the committee's Local Investment Plan.
Vassallo Constructions Pty Ltd has been awarded the contract to undertake works to relocate water mains for the Bruce Highway—Mackay Ring Road—Stage 1 project.
